Unit #2 Topics:
Animals and Nature
Animals in Stories
Animal Habitats
Baby Animals
Animals in Poems
This unit covers animals and their habitats. We will be discussing the things needed for survival, how animals adapt (change) depending on their surroundings, the changes that habitats go through over long periods of time (nature and human) and the effects of this habitat change (down the food chain), where different types of animals live (and why they have different homes), and how to share and respect the habitats of animals all over the world. We will be reviewing the necessities for survival of animals, as well as ourselves, as human beings.
During this unit, we will also be creating (guided) animal reports on an animal of choice. We will discuss the specific animal traits & features, what makes up a habitat, and important facts about this specific animal--and share our findings with others! By the end of this unit, students should be able to explain the parts animals play in the world around us.
